The location of Monument Falls is quite unassuming, but if you take the time to visit it you will realize it is quite a dynamic waterfall. Depending on the time of day and time of year you will see a very different waterfall, which offers you the ability to visit many times without feeling like you have “already seen” what this little beauty has to offer.
Parking is available a matter of yards from the crest of the waterfall (44.31089, -73.91541) and is commonly quiet and empty of visitors. Occasionally you will find fishermen wading through the waters above the falls as the water usually quite slow moving.
To get there: From Lake Placid (junction of Routes 86 & 73), drive northeast on Route 86 for 4.2 miles and turn left into the parking area. Follow a path next to the guardrails northeast for 200 feet to reach the waterfall.
