stony brook state park

Boasting as many waterfalls as Watkins Glen, this park needs to be on your bucket list!

Unlike many of the other parks that include large gorges, Stony Brook State Park offers you a chance to walk on the creek bed while the trails are open for the season. There are as many as a dozen waterfalls on the main trail that travels through the gorge and many more in the surrounding trails of the park.

Some of the waterfalls:
Stony Brook Falls
Cascade Below Lower Swimming Pool
East Stony Brook Cascade
Falls #1 & Falls #2
Hourglass Falls
Lower Falls
Middle Falls
Second Bridge Falls
Stony Brook Rapids
Swamp Falls
Upper Falls

The park offers camping, swimming, and many other amenities and is also pet-friendly! A day pass will have to be purchased for the normal New York State park season. Camping is extra, but swimming is free (two pools located on the creek!).

sure to bring good water shoes if you plan to walk the creek since it is slate and will be slippery!
