Some may not understand the power of “Why”

Why is one of the primary questions we all develop as children. There is a whole category of memes based of this one word, and as a father of 3 kids under 5 years old I have grown all too familiar with the word. Why anyone does anything can’t always be put in a sentence, or explained away easily. “Why” is also the deeper understanding of what we do and who we are.

We all work to pay bills. Why?
To take care of our family. Why
Because we want our family to be happy. Why?
Because we love our family.

This can continue for several “why’s”, but I hope this shows that a “why” cannot always be easily answered in its simplest of forms.

Why am I explaining this? Well, it has come to my attention that Dig The Falls did not have an official mission statement; a statement that everyone can read and understand who we are and what we do. In order to create a good mission statement, you need a “Why”. This boils down each and every action of the organization to a singular goal. A lightning rod that grounds an organization and its community!

Our Why?

Dig The Falls wants anyone, no matter who they are and where they are from, to be able to enjoy the outdoors like we did when we were young.

This statement seems simple enough, but took 7 why statements to create. Even then, it took some time to narrow the thoughts into a clear statement. Even then, it could be boiled down further… Whenever interacting with the community, this is the driving sentiment. It is why our team is so active outdoors and also creating content for the Dig The Falls community.

The Community!

Without each and every one of our community members (we refer to all of us as Waterfallers), Dig The Falls would not be as great as it is. Our team has put in so much effort and ridiculous amounts of time to build the content and try to grow the community, but without you there literally would not be a community. So, Thank You!
